Crazy Monkey Boxing & Jiu Jitsu Academy focuses on providing a proper education for our clients in Boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai Kickboxing, the world renowned Crazy Monkey Defense System, as well as Kettlebell Sports training.  Our boxing program is for anyone and all levels, we will meet you where you are at.  We provide training with a proven system of boxing that lays the foundation for anyone to learn the sweet science.  Training in our system of boxing will prepare you to adapt to anything that is thrown at you at all levels; hobbyist, amateur and elite.  We take the same systematic approach to our Muay Thai Kickboxing program.  The main focus of our system to teach our clients to be adaptable to any and all situations using the art of 8 limbs, punches, kicks, knees, elbows and the art of the clinch.  Our academy is also the United States headquarters for the Crazy Monkey Defense System and Team Monkey Jits Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.  Crazy Monkey Defense is an all-terrain combat athletically based self-preservation system, developed first and foremost for self-defense in hostile environments and against hostile mindsets.  This also makes for a perfect foundation for mixed martial arts from a stand-up perspective.  You will learn systematically the tools, techniques and skills that are required throughout each range of the fight.  This will prepare you, both physically and mentally to fight against all challenges from the mat, to the street and into your life.  So whether you want to focus on the sporting aspect of fighting or from a self-defense context, our training programs can provide you the foundation you need to move forward toward your goals in a healthy environment.  Ultimately, we want you to be able to use the lessons learned on the mat to be able to take on the martial arts of everyday life more skillfully, self-mastery through the experience of Crazy Monkey flows through everything we do at the academy.
Our approach to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is directly in line with our stand-up programs. BJJ ‘the gentle art’ is at its core, the art of self defense.  It has also been described as the art and science of control that leads to submission.  You can break it down into four basic parts, take your opponent to the ground, control your opponent on the ground, move to a dominant position, ultimately working to submit your opponent using joint locks, chokes, strangulations and more.  Now with that in mind, the foundation of our Jiu Jitsu is teaching people to defend themselves.  This provides students a level of skill and both physical and mental confidence that allows them to explore the art more fully; whether it be on the mat, through sport or as a tool for self-mastery.  That is why we place an emphasis on rolling, which is the equivalent of sparring.  It is in the roll where you learn to be calm, focused, precise and develop timing.  All these skills are key in your ability to apply your Jiu Jitsu in any environment, on the mat, in sport or in they street.  Live rolling is ‘serious’ fun, personally challenging, and where you have the opportunity to experience the flow state.  Lastly, Jiu Jitsu is often said to have changed people’s lives, first on the mat, and then in their lives.  We firmly believe this too, except we don’t leave it to chance.  We integrate cutting edge personal development coaching, mindfulness research and performance psychology into our training approach.

Crazy Monkey Kettlebell Club is the perfect compliment to our other martial arts training.  Kettlebells are often described as the martial arts of weightlifting. A Russian training tool developed around the turn of the 20th century, kettlebells are used to develop full body conditioning and high levels of fitness.  Kettlebells look like a cannonball with a handle. The unique shape allows for proper positioning of the weight over the center mass of your body, and allows you to keep your hands and wrists in neutral alignment. This enables greater endurance and longevity in the core lifts so you can produce a much greater volume of exercise resulting in greater conditioning and fitness.  The benefits of kettlebell training include; improved strength, increased work capacity, enhanced athleticism, weight loss, injury prevention, mental toughness, lean and functional muscle mass, strengthening the entire posterior chain, core strength and sport and martial arts applications.
